To be a supportive home for artistic growth, professional training, and career-long well-being. We seek to enrich the lives of artists through our holistic approach to the creative lifestyle, guided by our four pillars: education, community, volunteerism, and wellness. Because when we care for the mind, body, and spirit, we can thrive as artists.
THE FOUR PILLARS
At Vagabond, you’ll find training designed BY the industry FOR those in the industry. Our instructors work in the fields they teach and are leaders in the arts community.
At Vagabond School,
we include physical training into our programming so you keep both your mind & body fit.
Vagabond believes that The Arts are better with a supportive community surrounding every artist. We strive to instill this into every class and event we host.
We believe in using the community we build to give back to the Greater Chicago community. We dedicate volunteer events each month to lending a helping hand where it’s most needed.
VAGABOND SCHOOL OF THE ARTS was founded by former talent agent Michael McCracken in 2013. As an industry professional with decades of experience in multiple areas of the performing arts, Michael sought to strengthen the performing artist community in Chicago by giving it a creative, supportive, and professional home. Vagabond offers classes in On-Camera acting technique, scene study, theatre, and skill-centric workshops (such as Stage Combat, Pilot Season Prep, Monologues, and Shakespeare) from youth to adult. Eager to not only equip our students with technical training, our programming includes Business of Acting classes that help actors strengthen their career-long toolkits. Every one of our classes is taught by working industry professionals so that you get the best training from those leading the Chicago industry.
Vagabond is more than a school; it's a community. The environment that we have cultivated at Vagabond is one of constant encouragement, support, and positive energy. We believe it's not enough to simply take the classes aimed at helping you better your craft, one must also be engaging with their community. Through Vagabond's Community Outreach, artists can connect with each other as they give back to the greater Chicago community through volunteer opportunities offered throughout the year. We consider every student who passes through our doors as one of the family and will always do what we can to help you succeed.
We look forward to our journey with you and watching your career grow and thrive!
